Pets
Vacation homes seldom allow pets. If you absolutely can't imagine a Nantucket vacation without man's best friend, you have the option of boarding them at the MSPCA, 508-228-1491, and plan to spend your days together. Reservations are necessary. Both airlines are friendly regarding pets and will let you carry them on board free of charge. There is a small area in the rear of the cabin where you may sit with your pet. Cats are expected to be in a carrier and dogs leashed. Call ahead and let them know you would like to bring your pet on the flight. Only one family per flight is allowed to bring their pets.
All Ferries allow pets. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times and cats in carriers. An hour or two may be a long time for your dogs to last so bring along plastic bags.
There is a leash law on Nantucket and dogs are expected to be on a leash at all times. There are several parks that allow for a little more freedom. Sanford Farm and Tupancy Links are two areas where dogs are welcome to run freely. Waste bags are provided.
