Beach Driving - Permits
Over Sand Permits can be purchased at the Nantucket Police Department, 508-228-1212 located in Nantucket town on South Water Street.
Additional stickers are required for access to Great Point/Coskata-Coatue. They can be purchased at the Gate House (508-228-0006) at the end of Wauwinet Road just before you reach the Wauwinet house
Beach Picnics - Barbeque permits available at the fire station located next to the Stop & Shop. Fee is $5.00 and the permit is valid for one year.
Shell and Fishing Permits - Non-commercial permits are available for clamming and scalloping (in season) at the Marine and Coastal Resource Department, 34 Washington Street, 508-228-7261. Tide charts are available at Brant Point Marine .
Beaches
Nantucket is famous for naturally pristine beaches. If you head in any direction you will probably arrive at a beach in 10 minutes or less. Depending on the make up of your group, there are many different beaches to suit your needs.
