Nantucket Homes for $325,000 -$430,000 – Is it too good to be true?

One thing is for sure: Nantucket real estate is presenting some compelling buying opportunities!  Just a few years ago, it was hard to imagine homes for sale less than $600,000-$700,000.  If you were lucky enough to identify a property for less than this amount, it was most likely in need of major repairs or it may have been hardly larger than a shoebox.  Now, however, there are some unbeatable values on Nantucket Island being offered between $325,000 and $430,000!

98 Hinsdale: Imagine preparing meals in this beautiful kitchen!

Take for instance 98 Hinsdale Road, a custom-built, free standing home offering gorgeous finishes including granite counter tops, marble vanities and random width, oak flooring throughout.  This stand-alone (no shared walls) condominium

98 Hinsdale: Beautiful bonus room with vaulted ceilings

also features a one-car garage, two lovely bedrooms, a huge bonus room with vaulted ceilings and a full, unfinished basement with

exterior and interior access, The basement is already plumbed for another full bath, and ready to be converted into additional living space – perhaps an office, gym or second living room. Three of these four units have sold within the last year and only one remains available.  Current list price is $430,000.

4A Mary Ann Drive - $324,900!

Another property that appears to be a great buying opportunity is 4A Mary Ann Drive.  This four bedroom, four bath condominium is bank-owned and currently being offered at an almost-unbelievable price of $324,900.  Few of us can recall the last time you could purchase a property on Nantucket for this amount.  Buyers should be mindful, however, that this property requires some TLC.  A few of the appliances and light fixtures are missing, and generally the property could use some elbow grease, fresh paint and repair in a few areas.  But with a little hard work and some additional money to spruce the property up, this four bedroom condo could be a great investment for a family looking to own their own piece of Nantucket.

If you have been thinking of buying a property on Nantucket, now might just be the best time! Don’t hesitate to contact us today!

Nantucket Makes National Geographic’s Top 10 Beaches!

It is no secret – we all knew it and now it’s official!  Nantucket beaches have made it to the 2011 National Geographic list of the top 10 beaches in the world.  The list is short and the destinations are exotic and impressive - Hawaii, Tahiti, Maldives, and the SeyChelles are all mentioned.  Nantucket was a top pick because of the cleanliness of the beaches, the spectacular views, and exquisite sunsets!

Of course being on short list of such a prestigious publication does not happen all by itself.  There are many volunteers and organizations responsible for making it happen.  Three such organizations are  The Trustees of Reservations, the Conservation Foundation, and The Clean Team.  Each organization is committed to the support and preservation of the natural beauty of Nantucket. On Saturday, March 19th, all three organizations are joining together to allow volunteers a chance to get involved as a group to contribute to the continuing effort to keep our beaches clean, safe, and inviting as possible to benefit beachgoers, anglers, and our wildlife.

WHEN:  Saturday, March 19th, from 9:00 a.m. until Noon

WHERE:  We will meet at 8:45 a.m. at the Wauwinet Gatehouse

RAIN DATE:  Sunday, March 20th
